Dr. Zakaria specializes in periodontics and implantology, offering both conservative and surgical treatment for gum disease, cosmetic procedures to enhance your smile, and dental implants for single or multiple missing teeth. We know no one especially looks forward to a dental visit, so we work hard to make every appointment as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
You have the right to choose your own dentist, and while we’re happy to coordinate closely with your general dentist, a referral isn’t required to schedule with us. We also welcome referrals from patients and friends of the practice.
What Is a Periodontist?
A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease, along with the placement and long-term maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists are trained to treat every stage of periodontal disease, from gingivitis to more advanced periodontitis and gum recession.
The American Dental Association recognizes periodontics as one of the nine official specialties in dentistry. Periodontists complete three additional years of specialized training beyond dental school, giving them advanced expertise in both surgical and non-surgical gum treatment.
